2012 Fall Fest - “Year of the Great Pumpkin”

CASA’s annual Fest Fall was held on Monday, October 29, at the CASA offices. This year’s theme was the “Year of the Great Pumpkin” inspired by the 1966 film It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown by Charles Schultz based on his comic strip Peanuts.

Advocates brought their CASA children to enjoy various games, arts and crafts, face painting, and festive foods. New to this year’s event was the guided “Casper Ghost Hunt”, where children were encouraged to find lollypops disguised as ghosts, while also taking part in the traditional trick-or-treating around the CASA office.

Festive games included “go fish”, “pumpkin ring toss” and “pass the pumpkin”. The arts and crafts area was set up to allow the CASA children to create their very own paper plate and tissue paper pumpkin to take with them.

“My young CASA kids loved the Fall Fest booths and prizes, food and costumes, art area and trick-or-treating,” said CASA volunteer Advocate, Joanie McMullan. “They recognized other children from their earlier stay at The Children's Shelter and that brought forth smiles all around. My favorite parts were watching my CASA supervisor meet and lovingly interact with the children about whom she already knew so much. Thank you all for a wonderful afternoon!”

Overall, the 2012 Fall Fest was a huge success and the highest attended in recent years. Throughout the CASA office there was non-stop laughter and fun, and we were all grateful for it.
