Board Member Spotlight:  John Carlson

John Carlson is our newest Board of Governors member here at Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA). He is an outstanding community professional that we are honored to have join us.

John received his Bachelor of Science degree from the engineering school at Arizona State University and earned his Professional Design-Build Designation in 2007 from the Design-Build Institute of America. He has also received numerous other accolades within his professional career.

A second-generation Sundt employee with over three decades of experience, John began his career as a laborer in 1979 and has held a variety of engineering and management positions working in eight states and the Philippines. In 2010, he was promoted to his current position of Senior Vice President overseeing all aspects of Sundt’s business operations in Texas from the regional office based in San Antonio.

Over the past nine years, John has been a champion at the local, state and national levels on best practices, education and legislation for Design-Build and Construction Manager at Risk delivery methods. John has been involved in the acquisition and execution of over 40 alternative delivery projects totaling over $1 billion.

He has been a consistent contributor and advocate for the Sundt Foundation and has given generously throughout the years. He became involved with CASA through the foundation’s contributions and group volunteering opportunities. He first heard about CASA from his former Leadership San Antonio (LSA) classmate, Yolanda Valenzuela. He has been a consistent contributor and advocate for the Sundt Foundation and has given generously throughout the years.
