CASA visited the McNay for a great Art and Soul!

On Saturday, September 19, 2015, Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA) had a fun trip to the McNay Art Museum.  The McNay and their amazing staff generously hosted an Art & Soul with our CASA Advocates and the children assigned to their cases.  We are so thankful for their support as many of our CASA children said they had never been to an art museum before!

Everyone had a wonderful time working together to decorate t-shirts using pressed crayons, while also creating beautiful paintings using the same method. To spark their inner artist, we focused on something that was very special to their hearts. Our staff recorded how the children felt during the Art and Soul so they could forever remember the positive moments shared with their Advocates. One child in Kindergarten was quoted as saying, "I drew this picture of me in a graduation cap and gown so I can make sure I graduate high school.” It’s the little things like his memories at the McNay that make the work we do so impactful for every child and Advocate we work with.

One of the Advocates at the event stated “this was a great outlet for the kids with everything they’re going through. We had a great time bonding over the art we created together.”

Huge thanks to the McNay for spending Saturday with these children. Their memories will truly last a lifetime!
