Furnishing Dreams Program

CASA Advocate, Carol Eisenhart, knew that the three young children on her current case were in need of beds. The girls, who were first abandoned by their mother and then abused by their father, are now placed with their grandmother in a much more loving and soon to be permanent home. Caring for the three girls - ages 7, 8, and 10 - on her own, however, has proved at times challenging for the grandmother. In her role as an Advocate over this last year, Carol has served as a positive role model to the family, providing guidance and support to the grandmother so that she can be more successful in raising her three granddaughters.

As part of her advocacy, Carol researched and then contacted Ashley Furniture explaining the family’s situation and their needs. Through the company’s Furnishing Dreams program, which “seeks to provide less fortunate children a mattress set that is essential to a good night's sleep”, the family received four brand new beds and bedding for all of the children in the home.  As part of the gift, the staff from Ashley Furniture delivered and set up all of the donated items for the family.

The girls were so excited to have their very own beds, and they all wrote Ashley Furniture a letter to personally thank them. The grandmother was also extremely appreciative, contacting the CASA office to let us know what an incredible thing Carol had done for their family. She stated, “Carol has been a blessing in our lives.”
