CASA Day at the Capitol

On January 30, 2013, Texas CASA invited Advocates from across the State to join in at the Capitol to meet with our legislative representatives and senators. The original purpose of our meeting was to ensure that we maintain our current funding. Once at the Capitol, it was determined that we would be asking for added funding to serve even more children.

There were approximately 300 people, all dressed in a sea of blue, in attendance on behalf of Texas CASA.  Child Advocates San Antonio had an amazing presence with a total of 31 representatives who traveled to Austin for this daylong event. We were successful in meeting with all 13 of our legislators.  We received very positive feedback from our elected officials, with everyone agreeing that CASA is invaluable and serves as a vital component in knowing that more children in foster care have that independent and consistent voice throughout their time in care.

We thank you for your service to CASA, for the children that you serve, and for assisting in the area of legislation for the ultimate goal of one day having a CASA Advocate for every child that needs one.
