Volunteer Holiday Party

On Wednesday December 4, 2013, CASA hosted our Annual Holiday Party for our CASA Advocates, staff and board members at the Bright Shawl.  Each holiday season, we like to thank our Advocates for the unique service they provide the children of Bexar County. At this year’s holiday party, guests enjoyed dinner, dancing, a photo booth experience with props, and 15 raffle drawings that were announced throughout the evening.  The theme of this year’s event was, “Peace on Earth”. As such, each Advocate was encouraged to write wishes for the CASA children and youth on their cases and place them on this year’s CASA Wish Tree. The evening was filled with joy and laughter, and CASA is always thrilled to celebrate the work of our Advocates. Thank you to all who attended and made the event special.

Snacks with Santa

Texas Healthcare Foundation and H-E-B hosted the annual Snacks with Santa event on December 17. Several of our Advocates were given the opportunity to bring the children on their cases to the H-E-B Arsenal to listen to a story-teller, visit with Santa Claus, enjoy snacks, and receive surprise gifts. Following the event, one of the volunteers stated,

“Time and time again I am asked how I could do what I do for free…I just wish that people could just see what I see…and what I saw today with my kids—then they'd know for sure that I am the wealthiest person in the world. When I first asked my kids for three items they wanted, they all answered they wanted new jeans, new socks, and or new shoes…they had to really think hard of something fun, and that just makes my heart sink. I can only thank you for helping make this possible with the hopes that you will pass my gratitude to all the others who helped make my kids happy today.”

Birdies for Charities

Birdies for Charity is a fundraising program designed to give participating non-profit organizations the opportunity to generate contributions through the Valero Texas Open. Birdies for Charity is a no-cost program that gives 100% of the funds raised back to the participating organization. Funds are generated by soliciting pledges from individuals and corporations.

Birdies for Charity is similar to a walk-a-thon, but rather than donating per mile, participants make a pledge for every birdie made at the Valero Texas Open. The 2013 Valero Texas Open had 1,640 birdies made, so a pledge of $0.01 yielded a donation of $16.40.

Donors also have the ability to make a one-time donation and flexibility to pay in advance or be billed after the tournament. Donations are accepted from anywhere around the world and are tax deductible.

We invite you to support CASA through Birdies for Charity. Your donation not only supports CASA but also The Valero Texas Open and all of the charitable giving they have made throughout the years.
