Growing and Giving

Kappa Alpha Theta Luncheon

On March 3, 2015, the local alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity hosted their annual brunch at the San Antonio Country Club. This year’s theme was “Bingo & Brunch – New Orleans Style”, and a portion of the proceeds from the event directly benefited CASA.
While enjoying a lively serenade by master of ceremonies, Rick Cavender, attendees played several games of bingo and anxiously awaited while raffle winners were called. Prior to the onset of the festivities, the same guests attentively listened as CASA staff member and former volunteer, Leticia Hernandez, shared her compelling story of advocating for abused and neglected children in our community.

Last year over $16,000 was donated to CASA! We sincerely appreciate the commitment of the ladies of Kappa Alpha Theta and are already looking forward to next year’s event.

Teens Giving Back
Our Advocate, Noelle Manasco, helped organize one of our CASA Art & Souls by bringing some amazing volunteers from Teens Give Back.
They created some beautiful artwork with our CASA children and Advocates. These teens are also responsible for the new easels that we will be using during our upcoming Art & Soul events. These teens had a positive impact on our CASA children. Many of the volunteers left saying, “This was one of the rewarding experiences they have ever had!”
San Antonio Bar Auxiliary Peacemaker Award
CASA was recently awarded the 2015 Peacemaker Award for Corporate Community Service.  Their recognition of our critical advocacy and service to the vulnerable, at-risk youth will help ensure that their needs and best interest are addressed.
We truly appreciate their award, and with it, we will work towards serving 100% of the children in foster care by the year 2020.

Omega Delta Phi Fundraiser

Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA) teamed up with Our Lady of the Lake’s branch of the Omega Delta Phi Fraternity to raise awareness and donations for CASA.

The fraternity brothers worked together to have cream pies thrown in their faces to help CASA recruit, train and supervise more court appointed special Advocates. The event was a great success, and all of Our Lady of the Lake enjoyed the benefits of throwing pies at their fellow students.
