Kappa Alpha Theta Luncheon Raises Over $16,000 for CASA

On March 4, 2014, the local alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority hosted their annual luncheon at the San Antonio Country Club. This year’s theme was “Bingo & Bumblebees”, and a portion of the proceeds from the event directly benefited CASA.

While enjoying a lively serenade by master of ceremonies, Rick Cavender, attendees played several games of bingo and anxiously awaited while raffle winners were called. Prior to the onset of the festivities, the same guests attentively listened as CASA Volunteer of the Year, Noelle Manasco, shared her compelling story of advocating for abused and neglected children in our community.

In total, over $16,000 was donated to CASA! We sincerely appreciate the commitment of the ladies of Kappa Alpha Theta and are already looking forward to next year’s event.

CASA Chosen as “Charity of the Month” by the San Antonio Orthopaedic Group

Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA) has once again received a generous donation from The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group (TSAOG).  TSAOG selects various community partners for each month of the year and, as “Charity of the Month” for May 2014, CASA was presented with two checks totaling more than $3,200. This gift will allow CASA to serve an additional three children this year, helping to ensure that they can now live their lives free of abuse and neglect.

Since 2011, TSAOG and its employees have donated more than $11,500 to CASA.

The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group (TSAOG) was established in 1947. With a commitment to provide the highest standards of medical care, TSAOG has become the largest orthopaedic practice in San Antonio and South Texas.  The group participates in activities involving the community as a way of giving back.  A major portion of the funds donated to CASA and other charitable agencies are raised through employee giving.

This gift will increase our capacity to recruit, train, and support community volunteers who provide constancy and crucial advocacy.
