CASA’s First Annual Masquerade March

“My little ones had a blast! It was all they talked about on the way home.” ~ Leticia P. Hernandez

On October 16, 2013, Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA) hosted the first annual Masquerade March at The Bright Shawl for our CASA children.  Animated storytellers - including CASA Advocates, a member of our Board of Governors, and an older CASA youth - read animal inspired fables and then led discussions centered on their morals. The children were then asked to choose one of the two animals highlighted in the story to create their own unique masks. When the masks were completed, they selected various accessories, such as beads, tails and boas, to complete their looks.  Finally, in celebration of their creative efforts, the CASA children participated in a parade to show off their designs.  CASA staff members were lined along the parade route to pass out treats and cheer the children on as they danced by.

Thank you to all who participated in this inaugural event. The greatest outcome was the joy and laughter that filled the room. We look forward to seeing you all next year.
