Abby’s Closet 2015

Abby's Closet is a community-led CASA initiative that benefits our teen girls. We have organized a formal/semi-formal dress wear and accessories drive that will  culminate in our 4th annual event on March 28, 2015.

CASA girls, age 13 and up, are invited to enjoy a day of fashion and glamour. The event brings teen girls, with their Advocates into the CASA office, to pick out 2-3 dresses, receive free hair and makeup consultation from professional beauticians, and enjoy a girls day at CASA. Lunch and refreshments will be provided courtesy of Whole Foods.

Abby’s Closet was started in 2012 as a celebration of Abby – one of our CASA children who was in a coma at five-years old because she only weighed fifteen pounds. Advocate Jan said she never saw Abby in the same light her discouraged doctors, social worker, and lawyer did. She always saw her playing dress up, walking, talking, and going to prom, which because of Jan’s advocacy, Abby does and will do!

We are currently collecting new and gently used dresses, shoes, and accessories. We are looking for formal/semi-formal dresses that girls can wear to any event ranging from church to prom.

If you or anyone you know is interested in participating in Abby’s Closet please let us know! Contact Casey Gillespie at cgillespie@casa-satx.org or 210.225.7070 for further questions.
