You will be part of a team of caring and committed individuals that work to guide, support and direct volunteers to advocate on the behalf of children and youth in a consistent and caring manner. In this role you are able to provide encouragement, communication, and training to volunteers that prepares them for the challenges faced by foster children with the court, medical and educational systems.


You will work collaboratively with the team to engage and educate volunteers to ensure they are trained and prepared to advocate for children. You will perform outreach and follow-up, plus be part of retention efforts that provide support and understanding for our Volunteers Advocates during their cases.

Intent of Position

Be a leading positive and influential team member developing and leading highly impactful court appointed Volunteer Advocates guided by CASA's values of integrity, commitment, excellence and compassion. Assist volunteer Advocates in providing critical advocacy and services to vulnerable, at-risk youth, ensuring that their needs and best interests are addressed.

Skills/Requirements
  • The ability to perform all Advocate Supervisor functions including attending court hearings and staffings, and documenting judicial referrals and outcomes.
  • Assisting Volunteer Advocates in assessing parents and extended family in order to make recommendations that are in the best interest of the child.
  • Provide Volunteer Advocates with resources while communicating on a continual basis to check-in and provide support.
  • Must be able to work effectively with attorneys, foster parents, families, caseworkers and other child welfare and community partners.
  • Monitor and update case files in compliance with CASA standards. HR/JD/3.2024 • Regularly conducts audits on case files to ensure compliance with CASA standards.
  • Builds retention by providing recognition and encouraging Volunteer Advocates to accept additional cases in the future.
  • Trains Volunteer Advocates on writing concise and informative court reports.
  • Helps volunteers establish boundaries so they can function effectively in their role.
  • Ensures information regarding each case is entered in Optima in a timely manner according to CASA guidelines and that confidentiality is maintained for each case.
  • Helps implement the plan to enhance the experience and retention of Volunteer Advocates.
  • Assists with CASA events that are for Volunteer Advocates and the children we serve and maintains a calendar of events for Volunteer Advocates.
  • Participates in a minimum of 12 hours of ongoing training annually.
Qualifications:
  • Two or more years of experience in a private or public agency, in human services, providing services to children and their families.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in Social Work, Social Welfare, Social Services, Psychology, Sociology, Education, Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement or;
  • Equivalent, significant, relevant years of experience will be considered.
  • Prior experience as a Court Appointed Special Advocate preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey information verbally and in writing.
  • Strong understanding of cultural needs of the community we serve along with the ability to build rapport with a diverse workforce and client base.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with different stakeholders at one time to arrive at a satisfactory outcome for the child.
  • The ability to offer compassionate and caring customer service to internal/external customers,
  • Ability to attend programmatic events and activities and engage advocates to increase retention of advocates.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Suite and a database software for capturing case information.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for an extended periods of time.
  • Standing up to 2 hours at a time.
  • Intermittent physical activities include bending, typing, reaching and walking during working hours.
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds or team lifting up to 50 pounds
